Homeless

Here's a few pointers on surviving the streets.

Things you might need

  • Sleeping Bag(usually on sale at Big 5)
  • Tarp for under the sleeping bag(camoflouge are at harbor freight)
  • Sleeping Mat(around $15 at Target)
  • Dawn Dish Soap and a spray bottle(keeps ants away)
  • Smooth Can Opener(buy online)
  • Cheap Propane Burner + Cheap Pot + Bamboo Spatula(buy online)
  • Plastics Travel Poncho(CVS)
  • Trash Bags + Ziploc Bags(for rain to keep your stuff dry)
  • Wet Wipes(for cleansing 99 cent store)

Cooking

Propan stoves are cheap about $20 for a burner + $20 for a pot, propane is $5 at target for a pound canister. Then you could either cut meat in bits ++ boil for about 10 min, or buy them in strips, hamburgers, etc.. Pots clean pretty easy + if you carry a water jug(refillable) + dish soap. If you don't have the money, you can collect branches for burning, pine needles + small stick for fire starting with a lighter, in a BBQ at a park, or you could by a fire burning stove.

Food

Churches are a good place to check for free food.

A good way to store small amounts of dry foods in air tight container that won't spill open is water bottles.

Health

Feet need to be washed/wiped more than occasionally to keep from getting invasive fungus .

If your not showering daily you may notice skin build up, which can stain your skin.

If you don't have dental insurance, they sell the clean up kits at dollar stores or drug stores.

If your constantly in the sun near cars, sunglasses(the real kind not cheap dollar store kind), are a good idea so you don't get surfers eyes.

Massaging muscles helps when your over fatigued, which will happen if you carry a load everyday, also certain foods relax the muscles(tart cherries, hot peppers, etc.).

Showering

The best way if you don't have a friend is a gym or pool. If you love by the beach, you can take sea bath once in a while and rinse off at the showers. For guys, if not, you can shower with a gallon of water(poke holes in the cap with a mini screwdriver for efficient flow). You just need some sandals and board shorts. The last option is wet wipes, just need a rinse once in a while.

Shelter

Tents are the nest besides a vehicle, if there's spots in your area. If not finding a good spot with an overhang, and light if you need it will do. Just check for ants + if want spray dawn soap mix to keep them off your stuff. Always clean up + have a jug for the bathroom(dump in toilet later), to keep people off your back.
